 The Purpose
If you’ve ever looked for an apartment in New York, this book is for you. If you haven’t but have thought about moving here, this book is also for you.
The concept requirement of this book was based on lists. From there, I researched ideas for possible content. At the time, I was searching for a new apartment. I’d begun taking several notes on the apartments that I visited. I’d developed a substantial list of apartments with comical notes about a uniquely New York experience. These lived in my “Notes” app and in my text messages with friends and family. 

The ThinkingHow many thousands of people have gone through the same experience as me? How many of us laugh after the fact but are dreading the process before and during? I took my notes and wrote content about each apartment viewing. I named each entry an collected specific details about each apartment to set the scene, such as the weather when I was viewing the apartment, the date, and the neighborhood. After developing the content I needed to develop a concept for the book design. It’s tall and narrow, like the skyscrapers of NYC. Consistent details throughout each entry are included and a unique entry on each page. It reads almost like a brochure or pamphlet and is full of sattire throughout. 

The OutputSpiral-bound, Hammermill and City Papery paper, laserprinted in Brooklyn. The first edition produced 5 copies in different colored covers. I have several ideas to expand upon the project, but those are all on the backburner for a later time.
